“No Other Appetite”

Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes, and the Blood Jet of Poetry

Catalogue for a major exhibition at the Grolier Club in New York City, on the complex and fascinating relationship of these two important modern poets. I also produced the labels for the exhibition.

The Stinehour Press printed the book with two ink colors to create beautiful black-and-gray duotones on the uncoated Mohawk Superfine paper; the gray ink also served for folios, running heads, and the separating devices between catalogue items.

An “SP•TH•SP•TH” motif appears throughout the book’s interior, which I built to represent the complex interconnection of the artists’ personal and professional lives. This motif also appears on the spine in a combination of gold foil and blind stamping. You can read more about the design elements here.
